Matcha Tea: Health Benefits and Matcha Latte Recipe

Hello again!

For those who know me, it is quite obvious that I love any form of tea. I can drink tea at anytime of the day. I could even have it in a bar instead of wine and be weird. I am fine with that. Yes, I love it that much.

Lately, I mean for the last 4 years I have been drinking regularly Matcha tea. At the first I didn’t love it. It was just too different for my taste. However, when I realized all the benefits and how it makes me feel I started a journey on trying to experiment different ways to drink it.

Besides the enormous mountain of benefits, the first that I noticed was the steady and smooth energy throughout the day.

AAAND, for a little bird that feels too spaced out after an expresso, this was the best finding ever!

I mean, I am able to feel energetic without drinking the classic coffee? Damn beautiful!

So, what is this tea that suddenly become the salvation of my not-so-energetic mornings?

Ladies and gentlemen, The Matcha Tea.

Matcha tea is not a regular tea. It is not the type of tea that you infuse in water.

Essentially, Matcha is pulverized young leaves of green tea that you whistle with hot water. It has a strong taste. It is those kind of taste that it is difficult to explain. You just gotta try it! 🙂

Matcha is originally from Japan. In Japan it is used for different rituals and they tend to drink it in the classic form.  It became well-known in the last decades in the West, mainly due to its incredible benefits.

Even though in Japan is prepared in the traditional way, in the West the alternatives to incorporate it in smoothies, desserts and cooking are gradually increasing.

The Health Benefits are numberless.

It is scientifically proven that Matcha

1 – Helps you to Focus and Improve your mood

This was the first thing you will notice when you start drinking Matcha regularly. Your mood improves and your focus level is uuuup there.

This happens because Matcha is high on amino acids, especially L-theanine.  This amino-aci helps you to calm down and relax. Besides that, Matcha is high on Caffeine. This match is amazing! It gives you a lot of energy from the caffeine but at the same time relaxation. Instead of feeling agitated like normally happens when you drink coffee, you feel calmly energetic.

2 – Supports your immune system

It is proven that Matcha prevents Cell Demage caused by free radicals. And what that means? It means that your little cute cells are less likely to get sick. This support your immune system and prevents diseases like cancer.   

3 – Helps to Detox your body

Matcha is often handled as an important tool to help to detoxify the body. It is scientifically proved that its high levels of Chlorophyll helps to detox your body from toxins, heavy metals and chemicals.

4 – Support your cognitive Function   

The last but not least – It is mention in a study from the Journal Nutrients that Matcha may improve cognitive function of your brain.

Get the recipe below!  

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of vegetable drink (I recommend almond or coconut)
  • 1 tea spoon of Matcha Tea
  • Water
  • Agave syrup (optional)

Instructions

1- Place the Matcha in a bowl
2- Pour hot water and whisk until the tea is frothy.
3- In a pan heat the vegetable drink
4 – Pour the hot vegetable drink in a food processor and blend it until you have some foam
5 – Mix the tea and the vegetable drink
6 – Enjoy it!
