Your Winter’s best friend: Golden Milk

Golden Milk is an Indian drink full of benefits for us! It started to gain attention in Western World when Westerners started to be more and more interested in the Indian culture. Yoga, meditation, curry lentils and now Golden Milk! You can our Indian friends for that!

Personally, I find it a very pleasant drink. Not only because its color but also flavour and benefits.

And why you should make it your best friend? It is incredible effective on boosting your immunity!

The health benefits of including this drink of heaven into your routine are infinite!

It helps to reduce inflammation in your body and boost your immune System

Golden milk is a powerful tool to fight inflammation in your body since its recipe is full of anti-inflamatory ingredients. In a cup of golden milk we find gingerol (the main bioactive compound in ginger), curcumin (main susbtance found in Turmeric), cinammon and cardamom. All of these ingredients are well known by their incredible anti-inflamatory, antioxidant and anti-viral properties. They are all very important to boost our immune system and protect us from colds and flu!

Antioxidants are very important to our body. It inhibits oxidation, improve cell function and reduce their damage (which means it reduce risk of cancer).


It may protect against Heart Disease

Some of its ingredients (ginger, cinammon and turmeric) are scientifically proven to reduce the risk of heart diseases. The most common cause of death!

Drinking a cup of all of them combine will help you to reduce heart conditions.



In order to improve your health and protect you this winter from colds and the flue, it is recommended to drink once a day a cup of Golden Milk. The best time would be in the morning with an empty stomach or before bed.

Golden Milk is very easy to make. There are 2 options. Either you buy the ready to go version (very common in Health stores) and you only add to your milk or you can make it from scratch.

I recommend you to use the ingredients as they are. I mean, if you are able to choose, avoid the powder version. Some benefits might be reduce in the process of turning them into a powder.

And here we go! The recipe!


  • 2 cup of milk of your choice (I use almond milk)
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 cinammon stick (or 1/2 cinnamon powder)
  • Pinch of ground black pepper (it helps the curcumin absorption)
  • A piece of fresh ginger grated
  • 3 or 4 cardamom seeds
  • 1 tsp of agave syrup or money


  1. Pour everything into a hot pan and heat it up for about 3-5 minutes
  2. Filter it with a strainer
  3. Enjoy it!
