I apologise for my absence around here. I have been through some difficult times in my world. As you know I like to make everything simpler and focus on what needs more attention. And so I did.
Well, here I am again ready to write!
This week post is about being focus. If you are similar to me you know that some days your brain just does not feel like following you. It is almost impossible to seat and make things happen. There is no real reason, you just can’t.
However, I have been through this so many times that I developed my own strategy! Either when I need to study, write or focus on anything that needs to be done, I go through the following list:
1 – Write a realistic To-do List
The first step to get things done is writing a list. However, this is not a common list. You want this list to be as realistic as possible. You want to make sure you can actually do all those things! Only by writing a realistic list you can end your day with that feeling of “yes, I did it!”
To that list you will also add a “How” and a “When”.
And this, my friends is the secret of accomplishing anything you commit to.
Let me give you an example.
Instead of this:
- Work Out
- Write a post
- Grocery shopping
- Meet Ana
- 9 am – 10 am: Work out at home
- 11 a.m. – 12:30: After shower writing the post “6 Keys to be productive” in the “Sofa café”
- 12:30 – 2 p.m.: Lunch break
- 2 p.m. – 3p.m.: Going to lidl and buy the groceries for the week
- From 3 p.m.: Meet Ana at the park
2 – Find Comfort
Secondly, you got to find a place where you feel comfortable!
A comfortable place is where you have what you need. It might be only a pen and a notebook. It can also be a place where you can grab some tea, coffee and something to eat. It can be your room, a park, a coffee shop… There are no rules! Find what it is the best for you!
3 – Create a Vision
As third step, I highly recommend you to create a vision of you after accomplish everything on that list. You can imagine yourself enjoying the rest of the day with your friends, relaxing in bed, watching a movie, eating icecream…Anything!
The point is: having a clear vision of what you will do and feel after achieving what you commited to will motivate you to keep going through your tasks!
4 – Erase Distractions
Once you know what do to, how, when and where, you just need to erase everything that distracts you from accomplish your goals.
For instance, in the example of the list above you would erase any distractions from 11 am to 12:30 because it is when you decided to write an article. You need to find what are your most common distractions. Start by putting your phone aside. Instagram notifications can wait.
5- Put some music
Add music into your life! Choose music you like. It will inspire you, will make you feel good and will help you to isolate external noises that can be a distraction.

6 – Treat yourself
After accomplish everything on the list, what you usually do?
Just packing your stuff, go home or thinking about the next set of things to do, right?
That is a very common mistake. Once we get things done we just cannot stop. We keep adding more to our list.
Next time you accomplish something try to you take a deep breath and enjoy the feeling! How amazing is to achieving goals? What if you go even further and celebrate your accomplishments with a glass of wine or 15 min sunbathing in a park?
The best part of lists is when they are done. Enjoy it and celebrate yourself!
